Tehran Reserves One Fourth Share in Iran's GDP
The SMPO report said per capita GDP in Tehran Province is nearly 50 percent higher than that of the nationwide figure.
Per capita GDP in Tehran Province stands at Rls.11,130,000 considering inflation and other factors responsible for the price hikes of goods and services. The figure stands at Rls.7,500,000 for entire country.
The report said the production value for each Tehrani citizen is about Rls.4 million higher than that for other Iranians.
The SMPO experts say the reason for Tehran's higher GDP share than other Iranian provinces is employment of one fourth of the workforce in the industry, mines and servicing sectors in Tehran Province and residence of the local and non-local skilled and expert forces there as well as the presence of 30 percent of big industrial centers in the metropolitan city.
Based on a survey, 32 percent of citizens were engaged in the public and 68 percent in the private sector last year.
